Diwali was my favorite event I have been to on campus this semester. It was the first time I was exposed to the celebration and I was astonished. The music, the dances, the singing, it was all so much fun.
I have always known what Diwali was, but never how or why it was celebrated. Seeing the way SASA was able to bring together students of all different backgrounds to enjoy an aspect of their culture was so incredible. I was able to see my own friends and classmates perform and teach me about their cultures. I was able to experience new things with others who were also new to the celebration.
My favorite part of the experience was watching dance groups perform. It is always exciting to see people’s hard work and efforts be put into a show, and I loved watching the cultural aspects of all the performances. The outfits were beautiful and the environment was lively. Everyone there had a smile on their face and their laughter was radiant. I can’t wait to see what is in store for next year’s event.
