This article is popular and based on Islamic fiqh and sharia. Its intended audience is for Muslims, or anyone, who want to know more about Khadija Bint Khuwaylid’s life and personality. It discusses Khadija (Ra)’s past before marrying the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), her characteristics, how she was perceived by people, and her support of the Prophet (PBUH). Khadija (Ra) has always had a good reputation; she was wealthy, beautiful, well-mannered, and independent. The article mentions how many Quraishi men wished to marry her, yet she turned them away. Before he became a Prophet, Muammad (PBUH) was known as an excellent mannered buyer and seller, which piqued Khadija (Ra)’s interest in him. The article goes on to talk about what an amazing spouse and mother Khadija (Ra) was and how she impacted the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s teachings using the Quran and hadith (mainly Al-Bukhari) as evidence to back his claims. The Quran and hadith are extremely well-known, accurate sources in the Muslim world. The source brings up the story of when the Prophet (PBUH) visited cave Hiraa’ and received his first revelation. The Prophet (PBUH) returned home frightened, yet Khadija (Ra) comforted him and directed him to his next steps, encouraging the Prophet (PBUH) to continue his journey and God’s prophet and messenger. The article is well-formatted and easy to follow, making it easy for the reader to understand, even if the reader is non-muslim. Though, the author does not use many sources when talking about the life of Khadija (Ra) before her getting married to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), making it questionable how accurate the information provided may be.
The source vividly portrays Khadia (Ra)’s pivotal role in the community before and after her marriage with the Prophet (PBUH), which ties right into our research project about showing the contribution of the Prophet (PBUH)’s wife outside of their traditional spouse roles. The goal of our project is to prove that the Prophet (PBUH)’s wives are more than just wives, they helped shape the Islam millions of Muslims practice today.
